Learn about what it takes to create a successful online persona, niche blog, website and social media presence in this three-hour masterclass and Q&A session which focuses in on content creation, content management, promotion, and marketing online. Hear about the realities and challenges when it comes to working as a full-time freelancer online in Ireland as well as tips and advice on how to forge your own brand identity on social media platforms.
This masterclass will focus on the creation, promotion, marketing, and online writing of a blog/website in Ireland using the good news website WeAreIrish.ie as an example. You will look at how the website came to be from its inception, creation, and its publication in February 2020.
With insights into content planning, social media management, and best practices, Úna-Minh will showcase the mistakes she learned along the way, how she brainstorms ideas through documentation and spreadsheets and highlight the essential tools that she uses day-to-day while working online.
She will share tips on creating content for your social media, advice on how to upskill oneself when it comes to online creation, brand identity and public relations, all while referencing her own real experience in the online world.
Participants will not be expected to produce work; however questions about the topics discussed are most welcome.
Course Outcomes: What will participants take away from this course?
Participants will come away with actionable ideas and moves that they can make to kickstart their blogging/online writing adventure. They will gain valuable insight into what it takes to brainstorm and create a site from the ground up, the best ways forward for an online persona and receive tools of the trade and pointers that they can put into use themselves.
Úna-Minh Kavanagh hails from Kerry and is a journalist, author and multimedia content creator. She published her book, Anseo about the Irish language, identity, racism in 2019. In 2017, she won the award for Social Activist of the Year with U Magazine for her initiative, ‘We Are Irish’ and now edits the good news website WeAreIrish.ie.
She’s a blogger and a live streamer who broadcasts in English and in Irish. Úna-Minh has a BA in Irish and Journalism from DCU agus tá Gaelainn aici.
