Position: Arts Administrator Intern - Six Weeks - 30 Hours Per Week

Organization: The Irish Writers Centre

Description: The intern will gain practical experience in the Irish Writers Centre by supporting staff in day-to-day administration, and working in our busy reception area.

The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following:
  • arts administration
  • publicity and marketing
  • communicating with writers, members and the general public
  • processing payments
  • website management/social media
  • various adobe packages. On completion, the intern will have attained skills in arts administration, customer service, and I.T. as part of a close team

Skills Requirements: The applicant should have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy dealing with the public. An interest in literature and/or the arts would be a distinct advantage as well as an interest in social media. All applicants should have proficient computer skills and be willing to learn how to use new computer programmes. The ability to work within a team is essential.

Please Note: This is an unpaid internship but it may be possible to reimburse expenses. We can also compensate interns with membership of the Centre as well as free workshops and courses should they wish to avail of them. 

Start Date: Immediate. Hours may include one/two evenings per week and possibly one/two Saturdays per month.

Education Requirements:  An interest in the arts generally or literature in particular will be an advantage.

Please Note: This is a Tús internship for those who have been more than one year on JA (Jobseeker’s Allowance). You must contact your local welfare office, self-refer and put yourself forward for the Tús programme.

Start Date: Mid-August. Hours may include one/two evenings per week and possibly one/two Saturdays per month but will never exceed more than 19.5 hours each week on a flexible basis.
