Autumn 2016: this course has now passed.
This course is for writers starting out, be it in fiction, memoir, short story, poetry or a novel. You will explore different writing genres with hands-on exercises, reading the works of established writers and workshopping the participants’ own work. This critiquing will be done in an encouraging and friendly atmosphere along with tips and advice. By the end of the six weeks participants should have a clearer idea of what writing entails and how to pursue it. Jean O'Brien is an award-winning poet with four collections to her name and a ‘New and Selected’ due from Salmon Poetry, late 2016. She has facilitated many creative writing workshops in places as diverse as festivals, schools, community groups, prisons and libraries and she holds an M.Phil from Trinity College Dublin.
