The key to good writing is to start thinking and talking about good writing and good writers. Read and question what you’re reading – and then write. Participants in this six-week course with Kevin Curran will be doing all three – reading, talking and writing. Along with your own work-in- progress, the course will look at, and take inspiration (and solace) from top writers’ idiosyncrasies and unique writing styles. Focus will fall on finding your voice, character development, setting, dialogue, editing, theme, plot and creating conflict and sustaining tension. Over the six weeks you will sharpen your critical eye and in the process improve your writing.

Kevin Curran is the author of two critically acclaimed novels, Beatsploitation (Liberties Press, 2013) and Citizens (Liberties Press, 2106). His short story, 'Saving Tanya', from Young Irelanders (New Island, 2015) was Longlisted for the Irish Book Awards ‘Short Story of the Year.’ He has also had fiction published in The Stinging Fly and written for the Guardian and the Observer. He teaches in Dublin.

Here's What Other Writers Thought:

Kevin was an engaging and encouraging tutor with a wealth of knowledge and ferocious passion for writing. The course was inspiring and I would happily recommend it to anyone who wants to write but needs a little steering. –Jennifer Kenneally
