Autumn 2015 - this course has now passed.

How do we begin to write a story? How do we develop our characters? What about dialogue and description? How do we recognise the end of a story? Through a series of in-class exercises, close readings and discussions, Mike McCormack will explore these issues with the class over ten weeks. At the end of the course, each student will have developed a piece of work which will take them to the next stage of their development. Feedback will be given on individual pieces, revision will be encouraged.

Mike McCormack’s novels and short stories have won several prizes. His first short-story collection, Getting it in the Head, won the Ron was nominated as a New York Times Book of the Year
