Book Launch: Children of Isaac by PJ Connolly
Tuesday 17 November
About the book:
Children of Isaac is a wholly absorbing and brilliantly evoked piece of historical fiction. It tells the story of Protestant Isaac, Catholic Annie and their four children, a working-class family living in Stoneybatter in the early years of the last century.
It follows the growing up of the four children of the family, twins David and Becky, their deaf-mute sister, Poor Ruth, and youngest brother Sammy, the father’s favourite. Occasionally funny, often sad, it lays bare the ever-present tensions within a marriage driven by religious differences and torn by secrecy and deceit.
The story climaxes during the week of the Rising with its devastating and tragic consequences for the whole family.
PJ Connolly, a former Guidance Counsellor, is now a full-time author. He lives with his wife, Joan McKenna, on the Wicklow Dublin border. His acclaimed novel, The Priest’s Wife, came out in 2013. The launch is invitation only. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org
