Book Launch: Shafts, Shards by Madeleine Grace
Wednesday 9 December
All Welcome to the launch of Shafts, Shards by Madeleine Grace.
Shafts, Shards is a collection of poems - many of which were written over the past 25 years while some are quite recent. It captures the journey of a woman observing and living in the changing city of Dublin and her suburbs, particularly Finglas where the poet grew up. The poems express the presence of light through relationships and the beauty of certain events, people and places experienced by the poet. The poems also look painfully at the emotional pain of grief, loss and disappointment known to the heart of all who journey through life. This is her first collection of poetry.
Madeleine Grace lives in Dublin city where she is a teacher. She is the author of The Lighthouse, A Fairy Tale for the Broken Hearted. She won the Cross Pen ‘Make Your Mark’ short story competition through writing.ie in 2015 for her story titled,The Girl Who Could Catch the Rain. She holds an MA in Women’s Studies from UCD.
