Book Launch: The Boy in the Mask by Dick Benson-Gyles
Wednesday 6 April 2016
The Lilliput Press invites all to attend the launch of The Boy in the Mask: The Hidden World of Lawrence of Arabia, by Dick Benson-Gyles, at the Irish Writers Centre on 6 April 2016 at 6pm.
Kate O’Toole, daughter of the late Peter O’Toole, will be speaking at the event and launching the book.
About the book:
This ground-breaking book chronicles the author’s quest to uncover the secrets of T.E. Lawrence’s life, including his lost Irish ancestry, and the truth behind the dedication to ‘S.A’ of his book, Seven Pillars of Wisdom. It includes previously unseen photographs of Lawrence’s Irish family, and of his adventures in the Middle East. The book is divided into two halves – the first is devoted to Lawrence’s complicated relationship with his own Irish identity, and the second to his exploits as ‘Lawrence of Arabia.’
Dick Benson-Gyles, who lives in Plymouth in the west of England, was educated at Marlborough and is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin. A newspaper journalist for many years, specializing in sports and news coverage, he has also been an archaeologist in Baghdad and TV documentary presenter.
