Three generations of women, each leaving the home they loved. Their lives drift through the turmoil of the First World War, the 1916 Rising, and the establishment of the Irish Free State, knowing both happiness and heartache in those years.

Rose Cottage Years is based on the true story of a family. The three generations being the great grandmother, Fanny, grandmother, Anna, and aunt, Bina. They lived in Glanmire, Co. Cork, and the homes referred to are there, and still exist. The book covers the years 1913 to 1930 and it is a sequel to an earlier book - Fairfields - which is set in 1907/1908 and which is based on the true love story of the author's grandparents.
