One of the great joys in reading a book is voyaging into its pages, getting lost in its world, whether it is a futuristic dystopian city or a patchwork of rural country lanes. As writers, one of the fun parts of the creative process is building that world. Using both reading and writing activities, Building Fictional Worlds is a one-day course that explores how you go about building the ‘where’ of your story or book.
Danny Denton is a writer from Cork. His first novel, The Earlie King & the Kid in Yellow, was published by Granta Books in February 2018. He has been awarded several bursaries and scholarships for his work, and has written for publications including The Guardian, The Irish Times, The Irish Examiner, The Big Issue, and Granta. His short work has been published in The Stinging Fly, The Tangerine and Funhouse, among others, and broadcast on BBC Radio. He is currently writer-in-residence for the Cork County Libraries.
