Writing for radio takes many forms – the dramatic play or the short story, documentary or memoir/travel pieces, such as those for RTÉ Radio 1’s Sunday Miscellany. Brian Leyden will talk you through the how to’s and challenges unique to each of these genres and help you to discover which radio format best suits the story you want to tell. The Townhall Arts Space, Cavan, has offered the writers an opportunity to showcase at Festival of the Dead for the final workshop at the Farnham Arms Hotel.

Brian Leyden is author of the best-selling memoir The Home Place, the novel Death and Plenty and most recently, Sweet Old World: New & Selected Stories. He is a past winner of the RTÉ Radio 1 Francis MacManus Award, he has written for BBC Radio 4, and has had numerous writings featured on Sunday Miscellany and the Doc on One (RTÉ Radio 1) and The Quiet Quarter (Lyric FM).
