*This course was originally programmed with Mark O'Connell. Due to unforeseen circumstances Kevin Breathnach will now be facilitating this six-week course.

Learn how to incorporate literary styles and techniques in your non-fiction writing by examining what it means to write what John McPhee calls ‘the literature of fact’.  Attendees will explore the theory and practice of creative non-fiction in a variety of forms - including essays, reportage, memoir, criticism - as well as practical matters like finding a subject, reporting, and conducting interviews.  Participants will share and discuss their own works-in-progress, and will be encouraged to write new material for the course. Kevin Breathnach is a writer and critic. His work has appeared in the Dublin Review, The New Inquiry, The Irish Times, The Stinging Fly, gorse and elsewhere. He lives in Dublin.
