What does a publisher want to publish? And if your book is taken on by a publisher, what will happen to it between submission and publication? This day-long course will teach you how to edit a work in progress and prepare your script for submission. The course will also provide an overview of the publishing process and explain the editing, design and publicity processes. Participants’ proposals and writing will be assessed in class and the class will discuss how each proposal might fit within the commercial world of publishing. Helen Carr is a Senior Editor at The O’Brien Press. She edits a broad range of bestselling fiction and non-fiction for adults, young adults and children.
*Participants will be asked to submit their proposal or pitch and/or a sample of their work in progress (max 500 words) ahead of time.
