This intensive fiction seminar will cover the fundamentals of plotting, narrative tension and creating compelling characters. You will learn how to create memorable stories: how to begin, how to structure, and how to permanently cure writer’s block as well as the art of editing. An award-winning novelist and lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Manchester, M.J. Hyland has been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize (2006), the BBC National Short Story Award (2011 & 2012) and the Hazlitt Essay Prize (2013). She publishes in The Guardian, the Financial Times, the LRB, and more.
