Looking at key elements of writing fiction Catherine Dunne will help you find a writing style that is as individual as you are. Looking at style, pacing and character over three intensive sessions, this course is suitable for new or emerging writers or returnees from Catherine's summer sessions.

Style is a combination of your voice, your point of view, the story you want to tell and your ability to play with language. Your style is unique to you. You find out what it is by writing. Pacing is the art of the slow reveal: it’s what keeps your reader reading. There are no short cuts.Looking at character, as their creator, we have to make them behave in a certain way, express themselves in a certain way, even think in a certain way. A story’s characters are revealed to us, layer by layer.  Over three intensive sessions we will explore the elements of style and pacing together as well as helping you focus on building your characters layer by layer.

*Feedback will be provided for work submitted (up to 3,000 words) as soon as you sign up for the course. We cannot guarantee that work submitted after Monday 01 October will be reviewed.
