Do you struggle to find a way into your short stories? Are you suffering from flat, forgettable endings? This practical two session workshop will spend one week focusing on how to write truly captivating openings for your short stories and a second week specifically looking at how to craft endings which will leave your readers satisfied yet also wanting more.
Facilitated by Belfast-based short story writer and novelist, Jan Carson, the workshops will offer bespoke writing exercises, practical advice and plenty of tips on how make sure your stories hold the reader’s attention from first word, right through to final full stop.
Jan Carson is the author of Malcolm Orange Disappears, Children’s Children and a collection of flash fiction, Postcard Stories. She won the 2016 Harper’s Bazaar Short Story Competition and was shortlisted for the 2016 Sean O’Faolain Short Story Prize. She lives in East Belfast.
