Do you have a story you always wanted to tell? This workshop will explore how true stories can inspire a work of fiction. Participants will look at character, voice, setting, first draft, research, 'how much truth, how much fiction,' and revision.
Niamh Boyce was Hennessy XO New Irish Writer of The Year in 2012. Nominated for an IMPAC award, Niamh’s debut novel The Herbalist was critically acclaimed and won Debut of the Year at the Irish Book Awards. Inside the Wolf, her poetry collection was released in 2018. A pamphlet of those poems was highly recommended by the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award. Her poetry and fiction have been published in The North, Banshee, The Moth, Poetry Ireland Review and Southword.
Her work has been broadcast, adapted for stage and anthologised, most recently in The Long Gaze Back, The Hennessy Anthology and Hallelujah for 50 Foot Women. Her novel, Her Kind (Penguin Random House) inspired by the Kilkenny Witch Trial, is shortlisted for the European Literature Prize 2019.
