The key task for any writer is to engage readers, whether it is a memoir, a blog, travel writing, feature article or novel. Manchán Magan passionately believes in travel writing as the perfect combination of adventure story, memoir, history, geography and social comedy. This workshop focuses on how to craft informative and entertaining prose to lure a publisher/commissioning editor and to woo readers.
Participants will learn about good storytelling and about writing from the heart to create gripping narrative with believable characters, powerful ideas and an evocative sense of place.
Manchán Magan has written novels and books on his travels in Africa, India and South America. He has been published by the Guardian, LA Times and Washington Post, and writes regularly for The Irish Times.
