The publishing industry is always changing with new technologies offering opportunities to writers that are continuously evolving. Self-publishing is a very real and successful option for new and emerging writers, as well as established traditionally published authors who want to explore new avenues.
These four professional development sessions are aimed at established and emerging writers and will focus on getting started, editing and design, marketing, and the financial aspects of self-publishing
- Ireland and Eurozone adviser to the international umbrella organisation The Alliance of Independent Authors, Vanessa Fox O'Loughlin of Writing.ie, will outline the elements you need to consider before self-publishing. With practical dos and definitely don'ts, Vanessa will highlight the essential steps to successful self publishing and discuss some of the platforms available to you.
- Paul Corcoran of Castrum Press will cover the importance of designing and editing your own work and the vital elements of the self-publishing mix. He will outline the various editorial and design options available to writers as well as common pitfalls.
- Popular Crime Fiction author Louise Phillips will give you in-depth analysis on the various tools you can use to make yourself prominent on social media. Expect tips on best practice for designing and maintaining your own website.
- Publishing your book is one thing, but understanding the financial aspects is another. Jo Zebedee will explain the in's and out's of the business side of self-publishing, revealing her own experiences and tips for success.
