This course offers an introduction to the art and principles of biography. Components include piecing together the story of a life, listening to and harnessing narratives, practical research methods, ethical issues, and the skills involved in catching, interpreting and portraying a life in all its complexity.
Neil Hegarty is the author of Frost: That Was the Life That Was, a biography of the television interviewer Sir David Frost. The biography was described as ‘remarkably frank and illuminating’ by the Sunday Times and ‘a first-class biography’ by the Daily Express.
Neil's novels include The Jewel, published to widespread praise in 2019; and Inch Levels, which was shortlisted for the Kerry Group Novel of the Year award in 2017.
