Place writing has left the confinements of travel writing and is undoubtedly one of the popular genres in non-fiction today. Participants learn about key works and techniques while discovering methods of authors who explore(d) place through memoir and fiction.
Marcel Krueger is a German writer and translator living in Dundalk in Ireland who writes about places, their history and the journeys in between. His articles and essays have been published in the Irish Times, The Guardian, Slow Travel Berlin, and CNN Travel, amongst others. Marcel works as the Books Editor of Elsewhere - A Journal of Place and is the co-editor of the corridor an interdisciplinary arts project that engages with borders and the Belfast - Dublin corridor.
