No More Bookings. Reading Irish Poetry Series: From Yeats until 1960 with Harry Clifton
Starts: Tues 19 Sept 2017
Time: 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Duration: 6 Weeks
Cost: €165/€150 Members
Following the success of ‘Reading Modern Poetry’ and others, this continues the series of collaborative readings of key poetic texts, taking as its point of departure the lifework of Yeats and its effect on those after him, whether influenced by or reacting against their great Irish predecessor. As with previous series, the approach is non-academic, with emphasis on hearing as well as reading the work.
Harry Clifton has published The Holding Centre: Selected Poems 1974-2004 and Portobello Sonnets with Bloodaxe Books. He was recently Ireland Professor of Poetry.
Praise for Harry Clifton's Reading Poetry series:
‘This was a great course. A brilliantly intelligent perspective on modern poetry by an inspiring, hugely knowledgeable teacher.’ (Spring 2015)
