Screenwriting with Jonathan Kesselman
Starts: Tues 7 May 2019
Duration: 6 Weeks
Cost: €165/€150 Members
Screenwriting, like all other disciplines of writing, has its own rules, rhythms, and form. The goal of this particular workshop is to teach learners how to properly structure a feature length screenplay. In the first class, students will learn the ins-and-outs of narrative screen structure, using “the sequence” method, with an emphasis on "structural landmarks." The following week, learners will come prepared with 5 loglines of their film ideas. The class will workshop these to choose the best, most viable idea. Then, over the course of the next 4 weeks, learners will take that kernel of an idea and then lay out the bones of a feature film. By the last class, learners will have written an in-depth treatment (10-15 pages) from which to either pitch, or write their screenplay from. Additionally, we will cover the art of pitching a feature film in the final workshop.
