Spring 2015 - this course has now passed.

This course is now booked out.

Each week a new topic will be discussed: openings, characterisation (creating vivid characters which will lead to vivid stories), setting and place (creating an authentic, lived-in story world), editing and redrafting, and practical advice on submitting your work to magazines, agents and publishers. Examples from the best of modern literature will provide starting points for discussion, but the focus each week will be on your own work-in-progress. Trevor Byrne’s debut novel, Ghosts and Lightning, was a Book of the Year in the Guardian and the Irish Times. He is co-founder (with M. J. Hyland) and senior editor at The Editing Firm.

Starts Tuesday 24 March

6.30pm–8.30pm
Duration: 5 weeks
