Book Launch: The Girl From Clare by Críona Ní Gháirbhith
Thursday 6 June
6.30pm – 8.30pm | All welcome
As a poet, essayist and memoir writer, Críona Ní Gháirbhith displays a keen eye for striking images and an uncanny ability to reveal the most illuminating details. Writing in both English and Irish, and often inspired by the beauty and wildness of County Clare, her work is at once accessible and profound.
Most of all, Ní Gháirbhith is a storyteller. She takes us on a journey through a fruitful and eventful life well lived, offering stories that fairly sing with passion, exuberance and humour. Whether she is depicting growing up in County Clare, attending a small country school, or working as a teacher in Ballyfermot, she takes joy in the humanity that surrounds her and makes it come to life on the page.
At times evocative, beautiful, funny and enlightening, The Girl from Clare is a captivating work. It offers a compelling, clear-eyed and eminently engaging portrait of times long gone, always with affection and razor-sharp wit.
