Spring 2015 - this course has now passed.
From Homer to Heaney, CS Lewis to JK Rowling, myth has always been central to writers, and there is no greater treasury of myths than those of the Greeks. This course explores how timeless and dramatic stories such as Orpheus and Eurydice, Theseus and the Minotaur, and Persephone’s abduction by King Hades, can inspire our own writing. Suitable for beginners to advanced writers. No previous knowledge of the myths is required. James Harpur has had five poetry books published by Anvil Press. His awards include the Michael Hartnett Prize and the British National Poetry Competition. His Angels and Harvesters was a PBS Recommendation and shortlisted for the 2013 Irish Times Poetry Prize.
Saturday 18 April and 25 April
