At its heart travel writing is simply good storytelling – a gripping narrative with believable characters and an evocative sense of place. Manchán Magan passionately believes in travel writing as the perfect combination of memoir, history, geography and adventure story. Over one day, participants will learn how to structure absorbing sentences and meld anecdote, insight and a sense of place into timeless pieces of writing for either personal memoir, travel journalism or literature – transforming the sights, sounds and soul of a journey into engaging prose.
Manchán Magan is a travel documentary-maker. He has written books on his travels in Africa, India and South America, and wrote the ‘Magan’s World’ travel column for the Irish Times.
Here's What Other Writers Thought:
This was a terrific course with Manchan, who was generous and imaginative with his advice. The group had a nice dynamic, for my first-ever writing course it felt wonderful to be in a room full of other people who feel the same pull to write about place, in their own voice. We were all encouraged to keep going. –Anonymous
Manchan is a great teacher, a great talker, a fountain of knowledge when it comes to writing/reading, and is funny, and was positive with his feedback. –Anonymous
