This one-day course will cover the basics of reviewing fiction. Research, structure, writing and editing reviews will be taught and discussed among participants. Subjectivity and bias will be considered, as will the importance of language precision when reviewing. Participants will be asked to write their own draft of a review for analysis and should come prepared with a specific novel in mind. 

Sarah Gilmartin is a freelance arts journalist who writes a weekly column on new fiction for The Irish Times and contributes arts reviews and features to the website. Sarah also reviews for the Sunday Business Post and TV3’s Ireland:AM. She lectures in feature writing at Dublin City University and Dublin Business School.
