Writing Historical Fiction with Nicole Mary Kelby
Spring 2015 - this course has now passed.
Using contemporary models, such as Colum McCann’s TransAtlantic, this oneday intensive workshop will provide support and direction for writers of historical fiction. It will explore the conventions, ethics, and legal aspects of the practice. It will also suggest new strategies for storytelling, with a focus on reframing history to reflect personal experience. Participants are encouraged to email a sample of 1,000 words for feedback. Nicole Mary Kelby is the author of several historical novels. Her latest, The Pink Suit, is about the Irish immigrant who created the suit Mrs. Kennedy wore to Dallas.
