Writing Political Comedy with Kate Smurthwaite

Students will be introduced to techniques for writing political comedy and get to practise same in a fun collaborative environment. There will be tutor-led discussion, analysis of successful political comedy, in class exercises and collaborative writing. This session is aimed at those with an interest in politics and a good sense of humour. 

Kate Smurthwaite is a left-wing, feminist, atheist, polyamorous comedian and activist. She performs stand-up comedy all over the UK and around the world. She writes for publications from Cosmopolitan to both The Guardian and The Independent and is a writer for the BBC Three political comedy show The Revolution Will Be Televised and the UK's leading political satire show Have I Got News For You?
