Course Summary
Off The Scéal: A beginner’s guide to creative writing in Irish is a welcoming, introductory framework for those beginning to write in the Irish language.
The course is inspired by the ethos of Off The Scéal, the multilingual open-mic night co-curated by Ola Majekodunmi and Daniel Flynn that celebrates diverse voices in English, Irish, and other languages.
This course encourages newcomers to explore the Irish language through creative expression, blending basic language learning with imaginative writing prompts.
Course Outline
Participants experiment with simple Irish vocabulary and structures while crafting original poems, stories, or spoken-word pieces, gaining confidence to share their work aloud — especially in community settings like open-mic nights.
Course Outcomes
Write your first piece in Irish and take home some prompts that will help you to continue writing in the language.
