Want to start writing or get back to the page? Join us online for Saturday’s All Write. A six-week practical course of fun and thought-provoking exercises. Ideal for beginners to get started and for those returning from a break.

 Course Outline

Each week includes 3 exercises plus 1 to try at home

Week 1 Write here write now: notebook, pen, memory, imagination 

Week 2 Write who you know/who you want to know

Week 3 Write what you see, hear, smell, touch, taste…all the senses plus sense of humour

Week 4 Write a what-if life — fictionalise true events

Week 5 Write a new ending

Week 6 Write a list, a future store to keep going + end of course showcase readings

 

Homework and sharing of work are optional. Each week there will be opportunities to read brief excerpts from your work, leading to a celebratory showcase in week 6.


Course Outcomes

Participants will fill their notebooks with new work and ideas to create a personal writing project. 


Fiona O’Rourke’s short stories have been published, broadcast, and translated. Her debut novel was a joint winner at the Novel Fair 2016. Since earning an MPhil in Creative Writing (TCD, 2015), she has facilitated courses in community, libraries and festivals, and provided mentorships for individuals. Her former students have gone on to be longlisted, shortlisted, and to win awards in competitions with work kickstarted on her courses.
