The dissident Vaclev Havel believed we must “serve the truth under all circumstances as our own essential experience.” Through exercises and readings, we will explore the increasingly boundary-pushing potential of non-fiction, dipping into autobiography, essay, reportage and even oral history. The course will focus on honing your subject, developing your voice, and incorporating the basics of good shoe-leather journalism. Participants will be encouraged to produce their own piece of non-fiction work and get down to the nitty gritty of pitching and publishing.
Caelainn Hogan is a writer and journalist with work published in The New Yorker, Harper’s Magazine, VICE Magazine, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Dublin Review and others.Booking Terms and Conditions >>>
