Bealtaine Writers Festival Reading
Info
Date:
May 7, 2015
Thurs 7 May
Doors 12.30pm for 1pm start
This will be an open reading of work by the Bealtaine Writers as part of the annual Bealtaine Festival – all are welcome to attend.
Bealtaine Writers are a group of mainly older women and men who have met monthly over the past 15 years at the Irish Writers Centre to write and review work in progress, mainly poetry. Originating in the 1999 Bealtaine Festival, when Age and Opportunity, with support of the Irish Writers Centre and Poetry Ireland, invited Eithne Strong to run a series of workshops, they continue to be supported by these organisations who both facilitate further workshops with leading Irish poets and provide a venue for the annual Bealtaine Festival reading. The Bealtaine Writers have read in many venues including the National Gallery of Ireland, the Hugh Lane Gallery and Liberty Hall and, in December 2014, held the very successful launch of the 2nd Bealtaine Anthology at the Irish Writers Centre.
