John Haughton is an established Irish author. His Magnum Opus is ‘The Silver Lining’ a 400 page large format historical work which chronicled the birth of civil aviation in Ireland and the life of Lady Heath, arguably Ireland’s greatest aviatrix.  It includes extensive photographic records of the period in question.

John is an active member of the Bayside Writers and his poetry is included in the seven volumes of their series, ‘Migrating Minds’ . He edited the ‘Forest of Children Dreaming’ a publication of the Ballyfermot Schools Forest Project. He was co-editor of the Forest Friends Ireland poetry anthology, ‘Seeing the Wood and the Trees’. His published portfolio includes more than twenty short stories, and several poetry anthologies.  John has a background in Civic Planning and with fellow Town Planner Dara Larkin while working in Dublin Corporation (now Dublin City Council), they won the Irish Planning Institute  Award sponsored by the first National Building Society for the ‘Finglas Enlivenment Project’.

John devised, presented and managed his environmental radio program, ‘ENVIRO’ on NEAR FM, which included an eight part historical series, entitled, ‘New Perspectives on Irish History, Dreams themes, Myth and Ecology’, and a five part  documentary series, entitled, ‘The Changing Face of Fairview’

His autobiography,  ‘Swiftly Ebbing’, has received world-wide attention prior to its official launch in the Irish Writers Centre on the 19th June 2024.
