Susie, returns from a holiday in Italy with the news that she has fallen in love with Alfredo, a waiter she’s met in Milan.
This announcement, plus the news that she plans to marry Alfredo, creates serious consternation at home in Marino.
Peg, her mother, launches a major redecorating project, including the installation of a bidet under the stairs, while Fran, her Da, is cajoled into buying an Italian phrase book and dressing up in a hired suit for the wedding.
But all their plans are suddenly threatened with dramatic news that Alfredo may not be who, and what, he claims.
Will Susie break it off? Will Alfredo have to head back for Milano? And what about the bidet under the stairs?
