Area & Access
The Irish Writers Centre can be found at No. 19 Parnell Square, located in the heart of North Georgian Dublin.
About the Area
The Irish Writers Centre is based at No. 19 Parnell Square, Dublin, just a short walk from one of the city’s key thoroughfares, O’Connell Street, and opposite the picturesque Garden of Remembrance. We are close to a number of hotels and several other important cultural institutions, for example the Hugh Lane Gallery (currently closed for renovations), Poetry Ireland, the Gate Theatre, the James Joyce Centre, Belvedere College and the O’Reilly Theatre, the Olivier Cornet Gallery and the Abbey Theatre.
Building Access
The building in which the Irish Writers Centre is currently housed consists of five floors and is not suitable for those with mobility impairments. There is no lift in the building, and it is not currently wheelchair accessible.
The majority of the Centre’s events take place in the Kiely Room, which is on the first floor and requires climbing a flight of stairs. We regularly programme creative writing courses on the second, third and fourth floors. There is no induction loop in the building.
There are gender neutral toilets located on the ground floor and fourth floor of the Centre.
