Arts Council of Ireland Literature Bursary Awards
The objective of the English Language Literature Bursary Award is to enable professional writers and picture book artists (working mainly through the English language) to spend more time on their creative work. The award seeks to provide writers and picture book artists with the time and resources to think, research, reflect, create and write. It enables writers and picture book artists to concentrate on their creative work for a period of time, usually by releasing them from their financial commitments.
Maximum awarded: €20,000
There will be two rounds this year for the Literature bursary and applications for round 1 are open until February 15th. Applications of round 2 are open until Thursday 20 June 2024.
Arts Council of Ireland Writers in Schools Scheme
The Writers in Schools Scheme part-funds visits by writers and storytellers to schools throughout the island of Ireland. This scheme is co-funded by the Arts Council but administered by Poetry Ireland.
Maximum awarded €200
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Arts Council of Ireland Agility Awards
The Agility Award aims to support individual professional freelance artists and arts workers at any stage in their careers. You can apply for up to €5000 worth of support. You must register with the Arts Council’s online services at least five days before you apply so even if you are planning on submitting close to the deadline make sure you register as early as possible!

Applications open on the 5 March 2024 and close on 25 April 2024.
Artlinks Bursary Programme (South East region)
These Awards are designed to support artists to develop their practice by providing artists with the time and resources to think, research, reflect and critically engage with their art. The Art forms which we support are: Architecture, Circus, Dance, Film, Literature, Music, Opera, Street Arts, Theatre, Traditional Arts, Visual Arts. The ArtLinks partnership is supported by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and provides professional development opportunities and supports for established and emerging artists who are resident in the four partner local authority areas in the South East region.
The ArtLinks partners include Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford local authorities. For updates on deadlines, please look an the individual county office websites. The Edna O’Brien Young Writers Award 2024
Museum of Literature Ireland are now accepting applications from young writers aged 15 – 17 years for the Edna O’Brien Young Writers Award 2024. By applying, you will be in with a chance to secure a FREE place on a five-day creative writing retreat during the summer in Dublin, from 8 – 12 July 2024, alongside other teenagers. There are 15 places up for the taking!
The closing date for applications is Tuesday, 5 March 2024 at 10 pm.
Fingal Artists’ Support Scheme 2024
The Artists’ Support Scheme is a strand of funding which allows professional artists to avail of an award up to €5,000, towards travel/professional development opportunities, a residency, or towards the development of work. The objective of the scheme is to support individual professional artists from Fingal to develop their artistic practise. The award is open to practising artists at all stages in their professional careers working in music, visual art, drama, literature & dance. To be eligible to apply applicants must; have been born, have studied, or currently reside in the Fingal administrative area.
The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, 1st March 2024 at 4.00pm.
Creative Ireland Bursaries
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to invite applications for dlr Creative Ireland Bursaries which focus on supporting arts and cultural organisations, collectives and groups in delivering new and existing programmes or initiatives that help create Creative Communities in dlr.
Applicants such as theatres, galleries, choirs, artist studios, artists collectives; theatre, music, dance, circus and spectacle companies; amateur dramatic and musical societies are eligible to apply.
Applications close on Friday 12th April at 1pm
Emerging Artist Bursaries
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to invite applications for the Emerging Artist Bursaries 2024. Emerging Artist Bursaries support individual emerging artists from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown to develop and further their practice through the creation of new work at this vital stage in their career development.
Successful recipients will receive an award of €2,000 for the development and creation of new work during the period July-December 2024. A maximum of 14 bursaries of €2,000 each will be awarded.
