With the Irish Writers Centre Novel Fair 2024 submissions window opening on Friday 1 September, this one-week (Mon-Fri) intensive course is ideal for those who are aiming to get their manuscripts over the line!

This is a practical course for writers who are part way through writing a novel. Participants will workshop together to further the progress of their manuscripts, as well as engage in discussions on a weekly topic such as characterisation, dialogue, drama, etc., which are designed to strengthen the quality of their writing. More than twenty past participants of this course have secured book deals.

Course Outline

The course covers practical topics such as characterisation; drama; dialogue; endings; action scenes; romance; prose style and narrative voice. Each session discusses one classic example from the world of literature to focus on the issue for an hour. Then, in the second hour, participants read from their own work and get feedback.
