This one-day course will take place on Wednesday 16 August 2023.

Course Summary:

Take time out to recharge your energy and creativity with an evening of mindfulness and writing together.

Mindfulness has been shown to reduce stress and improve well-being, clarity, focus and creativity.

It’s also a refreshing way into your writing, to enrich and deepen your writing practice, and spark new ideas for poems or stories.

The life of a writer isn’t an easy one. Everyone needs rest and refreshment, especially in these difficult times.  We will also be writing about topics related to wellbeing in new ways.

Course Outline:

Enjoy a session of lead mindfulness with poetry (about 20mins) followed by a writing session inspired by your experience of poetry and mindfulness. There will be a chance to discuss your thoughts or writing.  Then after a mindful break, we will repeat this process again.

The mindfulness and writing sections will take part in silence. This is to enhance peacefulness and stillness. You maybe surprised what may arise!

Make sure you choose a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed for the workshop.

Unfortunately, late comers may not be admitted as that interrupts the peacefulness.

Course Outcomes:

Research has shown that the brain actually changes in response to mindfulness practice. Mindfulness can reduce stress and physical pain, and boost happiness, creativity, memory and concentration. Mindfulness is recommended by the NHS in the UK.
