Course Summary

This workshop is presented in association with Quebec Writers’ Federation as part of the Max Margles Residency.

Looking to shake up your process? Interested in breaking the rules a little? Designed to inspire unique approaches to creative writing, this 2.5-hour kickstarter edition of Writing Outside the Box: A Workshop on Edgy Fiction will help provoke your inner rebel, giving you the confidence you need to write more honestly and fearlessly. 

 

 


Course Outline and Outcomes

By the end of the evening, participants will have learned:

  • effective techniques for shutting down the inner editor and propelling projects forward,
  • tips and tricks on how to let loose and push boundaries in their work, and
  • where to look for creative inspiration going forward.

This is a fun, provocative workshop that’s been known to produce lots of laughter and even long-lasting friendships. It’s the perfect way to kickstart a project, rejuvenate your existing process, or to simply step outside your comfort zone and experiment with new forms and ideas.

 

 


Born in Trepassey, Newfoundland, writer Tracey Waddleton splits her time between her native island and the island of Montréal, Québec. Her first book, Send More Tourists… the Last Ones Were Delicious, was published by Breakwater Books in July of 2019 and won the 2020 ReLit Award for Short Fiction. She is the inaugural recipient of the Quebec Writers’ Federation Max Margles Writing Residency and is spending the month of August 2022 living and writing in Dublin, IE.
