It is with great regret that we heard of the death of Frank Buckley, who passed away on Thursday March 28th, 2019. Frank has been a longstanding friend of the Irish Writers Centre since its founding, and he was a man whose love of the arts made a considerable contribution to the life of the Centre both as a former Board member and as a patron of the arts. His generosity is evident in the fine collection of works that grace its rooms. We will miss his extraordinary talks about each and every painting on Culture Nights – they became a tradition with the tours booked out long in advance.
Frank has been an inspiration to all of us who knew him. He will be remembered for his charm and kindness and, with his passing, all of us at the Irish Writers Centre have lost a true friend. Our deepest sympathy to his partner Michael and his family. May he rest in peace.
On behalf of the Board and team of the IWC,
Liz McManus and Valerie Bistany
