Turas Press is delighted to invite you to celebrate the launch of Her Red Songs, the new collection from one of Ireland’s most innovative and daring poets.
Chris Murray is an eminent poet and literary activist, known internationally for her work as creator of poethead, a free, open access database of women’s poetry throughout the world. Her remarkable body of work is a profound expression of connectedness with the environment, her poems evoking a delicate, yet often searing, contemplation of the place of the individual within the natural world. The poet’s astonishing command of language, the dexterity of her use of punctuation and space, the precision of her craft, meld in the creation of these beautiful, haunting poems that touch the reader at their deepest level.
“The poems in Her Red Songs are visceral testimonies to the natural world, a world that Murray makes tangible and tactile… Murray is one of the most innovative and technically accomplished Irish poets writing today.” – Leeanne Quinn
Her Red Songs is the third collection by Chris published by Turas Press, following Bind in 2018 and Gold Friend in 2020.
Access our Building
Tá Áras Scríbhneoirí na hÉireann i 19 Cearnóg Pharnell, Baile Átha Cliath 1. Is teach Seoirseach é agus, ar an drochuair, níl ardaitheoir ann. Tá cúig chéim isteach ón tsráid. Bíonn bunús na n-imeachtaí i Seomra Kiely ar an chéad úrlár agus is gá tríocha céim a dhreapadh chuige sin.
The Irish Writers Centre is currently housed in 19 Parnell Square, Dublin 1. This is a Georgian building which unfortunately does not have a lift. There are 5 steps into the entrance level. The majority of the event’s activities will take place in the Kiely room which is on the first floor and requires climbing 30 steps in total. Please do inform us of any accessibility requirements you might have before the night so we can make any necessary arrangements.
If you have any questions about the event, please email info@irishwriterscentre.ie.
