You are invited to the Launch of Swept Back, Jean Tuomey’s debut collection, 6.30pm – 8.30pm on Wed 31st May 2023.  The evening will be hosted by Sheila o’ Donnell. Should you wish to attend, please rsvp to jeantuomey@hotmail.com

Jean attended two courses facilitated by Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill in the Irish Writers Centre in 2009 and 2010.  The writing group Words on the Wind was formed by Angela T Carr following the course.  Jean and friends, Nuala Eustace, Sinead Griffin, Bethan KiIfoyle  and Connie Walsh from the group, will read on the night. Music by Dundalk musicians Noeleen Mangan (fiddle) and Phillip Mc Guinness (mandolin). Wine reception at 6.30pm All welcome.Jean Tuomey lives in Castlebar. Co Mayo. She is published in several journals, national and international .Her chapbook Magical Thinking was highly commended in Fool for Poetry 2021. She came 2nd in Fish poetry competition 2011, 1st in the Jonathan Swift Creative Awards for poetry in 2021 and the St Francis Hospice poetry competition 2022. She was awarded mentorship with Elizabeth Reapy by Mayo Co. Council Arts Office in 2021 for work on a novel. Her debut collection, Swept Back (Lapwing), was launched in  the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, Dec. 2022. A former teacher, she trained as a writing facilitator with the National Association for Poetry Therapy in the US.

Sheila O’Donnell, Director in O’Donnell+Tuomey, was named Architect of the Year at the 2019 Women in Architecture Awards and in the same year elected Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.  Her water colours have been exhibited in the Royal Academy, the Royal Hibernian Academy and in a solo show at Clifden  Arts Festival 2019.
