Everyone Welcome

Join us for a morning of poetry from students of Dublin Adult Learning Centre. In March 2016 poet Nessa O’Mahony undertook a residency at DALC tailoring individual sessions and focussing on oral storytelling and written narrative. Nessa worked with various groups to access their memories and get their impressions down on paper.  These memoir narratives were then turned into short poems, which are truly inspiring. Join us for this morning showcase where the poems will be read out in the beautiful Georgian surround of the Irish Writers Centre’s Kiely Room.

This initiative was funded by Dublin City Council’s 1916 Rising Commemoration Fund for Communities.

“It was an incredibly rewarding experience to share these people’s experiences and memories. The majority grew up in the inner city, and had fantastic stories to tell of the strong community from which they had emerged.”
