Thursday 8 December

7pm

Friends and members,  we would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your support and enthusiasm with some festive cheer! Join us in raising a glass to a year of real highs for Irish writing and get to know other Irish Writers Centre members and friends.

The loose theme for the evening will be Bob Dylan, recent winner of the Nobel prize for literature. Come hear IWC Ambassador and true wit Joseph O’Connor wax lyrical on the Bard and his contribution to music and literature. Joseph will be joined on the night by Alvy Carragher and Gerard Smyth and we are also delighted that writers from our New Irish Communities group will return this year to share their views on the Nobel prize winner and the world at large.

To add to the smorgasbord of activities, we’ll be announcing the winner of the Jack Harte Bursary Award, in association with the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig. This is the third year of the award – named in honour of Jack Harte, founder of the Irish Writers Centre, in celebration and acknowledgement of his contribution to Irish literature.

So, come along and raise a glass to 2016, our 25th anniversary year – a very busy and successful year for the Irish Writers Centre.
