The Irish Writers Centre’s bilingual Takin’ the Mic comes to Dingle Literary Festival for the first time ever for an evening of poetry, prose and song as Béarla agus Gaeilge. It will take place on Saturday November 20, with up to 14 performers taking part. The celebrated MC for the evening is Annemarie Ní Churreáin and the special guest is esteemed writer Manchán Magan.


Annemarie Ní Churreáin is a poet from the Donegal Gaeltacht. Her publications include Bloodroot (Doire Press, 2017), Town (The Salvage Press, 2018) and The Poison Glen (The Gallery Press, 2021). She is a recipient of The Next Generation Award from the Irish Arts Council and a co-recipient of The Markievicz Award. She is a former literary fellow of Akademie Schloss Solitude and Jack Kerouac House Orlando. Annemarie was the 2019-20 Writer in Residence at Maynooth University of Ireland, and a 2020 Artist In Residence at The Centre Culturel Irlandais Paris. Manchán Magan is a travel documentary-maker. He has written books on his travels in Africa, India and South America, and wrote the ‘Magan’s World’ travel column for the Irish Times. His best-selling book Thirty-Two Words For Field sold 35,000 copies and has been in the best-seller list for most of 2021.
