We’re delighted to open our doors for the second bilingual Takin’ the Mic of 2022. MC Bob Gallagher is joined by special guest June Caldwell for a fantastic evening of poetry and prose in English and Irish with an open mic with writers, poets and musicians. All welcome. BYOB.

Tá Takin’ the Mic ar ais go Áras Scríbhneoirí na hÉireann le hghaidh sár-oíche filíochta, focal labhartha agus grinn i mBéarla agus i nGaeilge. In éineacht le fear an tí Bob Ó Gallchobhair, beidh an file June Caldwell ann mar aoi speisialta chomh maith le ‘mic-oscailte’ le haghaidh scríbhneoirí, filí agus ceoltóirí. Fáilte roimh chách!

Bob Gallagher is an award-winning filmmaker described by Werner Herzog as a ‘good soldier of cinema’ and by Totally Dublin as ‘one of the nation’s premiere creative forces in the visual arts’. Gallagher came to prominence as the creator of some of the most iconoclastic music videos to emerge from Ireland in recent years, collaborating with acts such as Girl Band, Lankum, Pillow Queens and Villagers. He is currently developing his debut feature film, written as part of Screen Ireland’s Director’s Concept Development Award.

Is scannánóir clúiteach é Bob Ó Gallchobhair a thug Werner Herzog ‘good soldier of cinema’ air agus a mhaígh Totally Dublin mar ‘one of the nation’s premiere creative forces in the visual arts’ é. Tarraingíodh aird ar Gallchobhair mar cruthaitheoir roinnt de na físeáin cheoil is ceannaircí a tháinig as Éirinn le blianta, é ag comhoibriú le grúpaí ceoil ar nós Gilla Band, Lankum, Pillow Queens agus Villagers. Tá a chéad scannán fada á fhorbairt faoi láthair aige, le script dátheangach a scríobhadh mar chuid den Director’s Concept Development Award de chuid Fís Éireann.

June Caldwell is a writer from Dublin. She has published essays, short stories, biography, poetry, fiction, radio scripts, and journalism. She is the author of short story collection Room Little Darker and her debut novel Little Town Moone is forthcoming from John Murray. She is a prizewinner of The Moth Short Story Prize.
