This course takes place online on Tuesdays (three sessions in total).
Course Summary
This three-week course will encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone to discover new creative depths in your writing. You will experiment with genre and explore different techniques for finding story ideas, as well as looking at ways you can play with your character voices. Ideal for anyone who is feeling stale with their writing or stuck in a creative rut.
Course Outline
Week One
Playing with story ideas and mixing it up with different genres. Bringing the sense of wonder back into your writing.
Week Two
In this hands-on, practical session you will take a basic story idea and create a rough plot for a whole book using Post It notes.
Week Three
Looking at unusual character voice and unreliable narrators. How shifting perspectives like this can help you find the essence of your story.
Course Outcomes
Participants will come away with a renewed energy for an existing project or feel ready to start something new.
Caroline Green is an award-winning and Sunday Times/ USA Today bestselling author for both adults and young people. She has published thirteen books; under her own name, as Cass Green and as CS Green. Her latest book is the supernatural thriller Down Among the Dead. Caroline is the Writer in Residence at East Barnet School and Pentonville Prison. She also runs courses for City University and Writers and Artists Yearbook.
