We are throwing open the doors to the Irish Writers Centre for our annual Spring Open Day. This is a perfect day for anyone looking to get a sense of who we are and what we do. Whether you're looking for a free taster writing workshop or to tour our beautiful Georgian building on Parnell Square, there's something for everyone.

Timetable: 

From 10.30 – 11.00: Welcome! Tea, coffee, biscuits, cake plus an informal chat about the work of the Irish Writers Centre

11.00 - 11.45: New Irish Communities with Mark Granier 

Get a taster of this open creative writing group for non-native English speakers who come together every Saturday during seasonal terms. No need to sign up in advance - the group welcomes walk-ins. 

11.00 – 11.30: Tour of our beautiful Georgian building with Helen Mulvany

Find out the story behind these three storeys of history and culture.

12.00 - 12.45: Writing Taster with Aiden O’Reilly

Learn about the craft of writing as distinguished author Aiden O’Reilly puts a whole toolbox of techniques and styles at your service. Attendees are invited to sign up to this free workshop in advance via Eventbrite.

13.30 - 15.00: Inkslingers Open Writing Group

The Inkslingers welcome newcomers interested in what happens at a writing group. No need to sign up in advance - the group welcomes walk-ins. 

14.00 - 14.45: Writing Taster with Stephen Walsh

An introduction to visual narrative and the screenplay form providing a starting point for participants to develop their ideas into short scripts.  With eminent screenwriter Stephen Walsh. Attendees are invited to sign up to this free course in advance via Eventbrite.

14.00 – 14.30: Tour of our beautiful Georgian building with Helen Mulvany

This Novel Fair information session will give you all the tools you need to confidently submit your own entry to this renowned writing competition.
